Can you use free AI voices commercially?

Do not confuse a free export with permission to use it for a business. Here is what to check before producing a client video, advertisement or monetized project.

Sources checked . This guide compares published licensing rules, not voice-quality test results.

The quick answer

For ElevenLabs and Fliki, a free account is a way to evaluate the workflow, not a commercial production licence. Check the plan and the date you generated the material before using it for a business. Keep a copy of the terms that applied to your project.

ElevenLabs: upgrading does not license earlier free output

ElevenLabs says material generated outside a paid subscription cannot be used commercially. Paying later does not change that original generation status. For non-commercial sharing of free output, its attribution rules also apply. Paid subscriptions include commercial permission for covered services, subject to applicable rights and terms; beta services are excluded.

If you built a draft on Free and later need it for a client, generate a new version under an eligible paid subscription. Save the generation date and plan receipt. See the official ElevenLabs publishing policy for product-specific conditions.

Fliki: check when the video was created

Fliki links commercial rights to paid plans. Its FAQ says videos created while a paid subscription was active retain that permission after the subscription ends. That statement does not make a free-plan export commercially licensed. The official text-to-video page also identifies commercial use as a paid-plan feature.

Keep the final export, subscription record and creation date together. If the project uses stock media, music or a supplied voice, review the applicable conditions as well. See Fliki’s ownership and cancellation FAQ.

Use a project checklist before publishing

  • Define the destination: tell the supplier whether this is personal sharing, an advertisement, client work or a monetized channel. Ask for clarification if your intended use is unclear.
  • Check the generation date: the plan you hold now may differ from the plan used to create the audio.
  • Keep source records: store the script, export, receipt and a dated copy of the relevant terms with the project.
  • Check every asset: permission for generated audio does not automatically establish rights to a supplied script, music, image or person’s voice.
  • Preview the final export: check pronunciation, pauses and attribution before committing the project to a client.

Which workflow should you shortlist?

This guide belongs to our AI video and voice category, where the full five-tool shortlist is maintained.

Start with the finished deliverable. For audio-first work, compare the ElevenLabs and Fliki workflows. For a narrated video, read our AI video buying guide. Use the script duration calculator to plan your narration before generating it. It estimates duration; it does not measure credit consumption.

Prices, quotas and permissions can change. This page deliberately omits subscription prices because choosing the right licence matters more than a temporary offer. Confirm the current terms on the official website before publishing.
